In order to provide equipment for rural schools to participate in the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP), Kansas Department of Wildlife & Parks has donated an archery kit to Colby Community College. The kit will be provided to participating schools on a rotational basis. The $2800.00 donation of equipment includes (11) bows and stands, (60) arrows, (5) targets, and an arrow curtain for backstop. The College and participating schools wish to express their gratitude to Kansas NASP coordinator Gary Keehn and the Department of Wildlife & Parks for their generosity. Basic Archery Instructor



Colby Community College completed a second training session for Basic Archery Instructor on Wednesday, July 9, 2008. Schools represented were Fort Hays State University, Ruppenthal Middle School in Russell, Kansas and Smith Center Elementary School. The 8 hour certification class enables instructors to teach the NASP program at their respective schools and qualify students for regional, state, and national competition. Scholorships are available to top shooters at the national level.
